Brooke Marine Eros Overview
Eros was built in 1939 for the daughter of a British lord, but she did not serve long as a private yacht - at the beginning of the Second World War she was confiscated by the Navy and took part in the famous evacuation of the British soldiers from Dunkirk. After the war she passed into the hands of the famous Greek magnate Stavros Niarchos, in whose hands she remained until the early 1990s. Later, she changed owners, passing into the hands of the American couple Bill and Grace Boodle, who spent 18 years restoring her to museum-quality quality... more than 18 years! Bill is a well known American athletic trainer who has maintained his own fitness studio for 13 years and is a great lover of sailing. He's spent 36 (!) years raising the funds to buy and rebuild a boat. The consequence of this love and meticulous reconstruction was the restoration of the boat in its original appearance of the "golden age of sailing".
