Pride of the Old World

On the first evening of the yacht show in Dusseldorf the traditional award «ceremony of European Boats of the Year 2012» - a kind «of Oscar» of the European yachting industry - took place. The nominees competed in six categories, and this was the result of a strict jury vote.

European boat of the year in a class of up to 25 feet:
Four Winns S215

Yamarin 53 Cross Center Console.

European Boat of the Year in the class of up to 35 feet:
Cranchi 30 Endurance

They were also nominated:

Jeanneau Merry Fisher 855
Viksund 335 St. Cruz
Frauscher 1017 GT

European boat of the year in a class of up to 45 feet:
Nimbus 365 Coupé

Swedish group Nimbus has performed brilliantly, winning a prestigious award since her first appearance. And the competition in this class, as you can see, was not a joke - the names of other rivals inspire respect.

European boat of the year in class over 45 feet:
Jeanneau 500 Prestige Fly

Here Europeans were unanimous with their overseas colleagues who awarded 500 Prestige with a similar title from their bell tower.

In the Displacement Boat class, the Bruijs Coaster 1400 Open Cockpit is the best in Europe.

A separate award «for innovation» this year went to the Norwegian boat Goldfish 23 eFusion, a tender with an outboard electric motor. The boat can reach a speed of 47 (!) knots without consuming a drop of gasoline.
