About Scout Boats

History of the company

In the mid-1980's, Scout Boats founder and CEO Steve Potts served as director of the American Sail Boat Plant. At the age of 14, Potts was associated with the shipbuilding industry and knew that one day he would build his own boats.

Scout Boats is a true American success story. Working part-time, weekends and nights, Potts managed to save $50,000 and founded his company in South Carolina. The first boat he built in 1990 was a modest 14-foot fishing boat. Excellent finishes set her apart from her competitors. Made by craftsmanship, this small model gained popularity in South Carolina and beyond in a short time.

Potts' first boats, built in garages and sheds, began to earn the reputation of their creator. The pursuit of excellence paid off when the world emerged from the economic crisis of 2008. While the shipbuilding industry was shaken by customers' material problems, Scout Boats launched 18 new models. During several years, the annual growth of the company was 25%.

Production .

Scout Boats owns a large, constantly expanding shipyard in Summerville, South Carolina. The total area of production facilities exceeds 19,000 square meters.

Model range

The ideology of Scout Boats is to create fishing boats with modern design and luxury comfort level.

Scout Boats offers a complete line of exquisite yachts and boats for coastal and long distance cruising. It ranges from the 17 foot outboard motor boat to the 53 foot centre console boat, where a luxury yacht blends seamlessly with a productive fishing machine.

Features

From the very beginning Scout Boats has specialized in boats for fishing enthusiasts and in this respect the company has accumulated invaluable experience.

In addition, the shipyard has gradually moved away from using wood in the construction of its models and instead relies on modern composite materials that offer greater strength and durability.
