Interesting sailing premieres in Cannes

Talk about sailboats that should be on your Cannes Yachting Festival mandatory list.

The Boat Show in Cannes is increasing its sailing section year after year. The organizers have an ambition to make the Cannes Yachting Festival not only the largest in-water motor yacht show in Europe, but also the largest sailing boat show in the world. To this end, almost the entire port of Canto has been given to sailing this year, and for the first time a sailing regatta will take place as part of the boat show.

Naturally, the berths of the port of Canto will have many curious new sailing models. That's what we're going to talk about.

Dehler 30 One Design

«Adrenalin in blood. A gust of wind fills the genaker and the speed of the camp jump to 9 - 14 knots. Lips fold into a triumphant smile as they approach the finish line. Later in the day you do not hurry and comfortably return to the starting point, promises a»description on the official website Dehler. The manufacturer positions this monotype as the best of two worlds - racing and cruise. And switching from regatta mode to cruise mode takes place in several simple steps.

Like all modern Dehler yachts, the 30 OD hull set is made of light and durable carbon (the so-called Dehler Carbon Cage). The mast, bowsprit and double rudder are also made of this material. The screw is retracted into a sealed compartment in the housing when a 10 hp diesel engine is not needed. Thus, when you sail, no algae will wind up on the screw.

And most importantly - all these wonders of technology are available in the basic package, that is, even the basic version of the Dehler 30 is fast enough to successfully drive it.

Elan Impression 45.1

The medium size boat in the Impression series, the Elan Impression 45.1 is a good-looking cruiser with a pleasant design that can be ordered with three or four cabins and successfully used as a charter boat. The salon, finished in light wood, is well lit thanks to many glazed hatches. Hatchways are also available in all three cabins.

On deck in the spacious cockpit, there are transformers tables from which you can fold one large dining table or turn them into seats that together with the sofas form two full sleeping places. Under the skipper's seats, there are plenty of storage space for the grill, sink and fridge. Pleasant addition: teak on deck and folding bathing platform are in the base.

First Yacht 53

This is a luxury cruising yacht from Beneteau. The company places a special emphasis on the word "luxury«": the»updated First series is her hope to regain the glory of a prestigious sailing brand. It is not a secret that Beneteau products today are perceived first of all as budget and mass.

To change this perception, Beneteau called on a yacht design guru, Roberto Biscontini, who has been designing boats for the «America's Cup for 30 years.»Lorenzo Argento, known for his collaboration with Michael Schmidt Yachtbau (they will also have an interesting sailing boat in Cannes, read more).

They have a minimalistic, smooth, streamlined silhouette with a low superstructure roof, wide open stern and no cluttered cockpit. Bisconti carefully calculated the center of gravity and conducted a number of tests to ensure that the hull was not only beautiful, but also had good driving characteristics.

Special features of this boat include spacious sub-decks and a tender garage.

Michael Schmidt Y7

Another luxury cruiser on our list, the carbon Y7 was designed by American designer Bill Tripp, one of the best naval architects in the world. With a displacement of 29 tons, the sails of the Y7 are 300 square metres. This means you won't need a motor even in low winds.

All new technologies are used on board that make it easy to set up and clean sails, so you can even control a 70 foot sailboat alone. The keel is liftable and the transom hides a tender garage up to 3.45 meters long. Look how interesting it is.

Below deck there is a really huge saloon, a separate galley and two or three cabins, which can be arranged very differently - there are four different layouts.

Swan 48.

The return of the legendary 48-foot Nautor's Swan took place 40 years after the boat was first launched, and we have no doubt that its updated version will become just as legendary.

The Swan 48 concept was traditionally developed by design guru Germán Frers. The boat turned out to be very stable and safe. On deck, the control and relaxation areas are separated, all the ropes are in the cockpit and all the ends are kept in separate pockets. There is space for storage of a fully inflated 2.8-metre tender.

Below deck there are light and spacious rooms, three cabins and two shower rooms (!).

The racing version is completed by a long keel and bowsprit, a mainsail with a square top and a carbon mast.

X4⁰

The smallest sailboat of the X-Yachts cruise line, X4⁰ can compete with the Swan 48 for the title of an ideal family cruiser. The hull is «baked» at high temperatures for 24 hours, which not only has a positive effect on the strength of the material, but also minimizes the risk of color loss due to darker painted hull parts.

The interiors are Scandinavian-style, very nice to the eye, but the bathroom below deck is the only one with two or three cabins. This, however, is offset by a competitive price of €257,500.
