The organisers of the Cannes Yachting Festival issued a statement in which they dispelled fears about the future of the show this year.

Europe's biggest water bowl show will take place despite the coronavirus pandemic.

The French Defence and National Security Committee has announced that mass events will be possible again from September 1st. This means that the show in Cannes will be held on the same dates as usual - from 8 to 13 September - at the same sites in the Old Port and Port of Canto.

«The main word this year is "adaptation". We have adapted the format of the festival, and now it offers our exhibitors the best possible service in terms of space, limited budget and new hygiene standards. They have everything they need. We have encountered difficulties, but thanks to great flexibility and constant adaptation, thanks to the support of the Cannes authorities, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the region and our suppliers (stand and pontoon manufacturers, fitters, shuttle organisers, etc.). e.) we were able to plan the Festival and start preparations in record time. The organization of events is rarely like a serene cruise, but in recent months we have experienced a 12-point storm!»", says exhibition manager Sylvie Ernoult.

In 2020, more than 340 motor yachts and 80 sailing boats will gather in Cannes, not counting the brokerage offers.

More than 420 boards in total.

In 2019, 650 boards were visible in Cannes, including 128 sailboats in a separate area in the port of Canto, which was opened for the first time.

In 2019, 54 thousand people visited the exhibition.

Almost all the main representatives of the industry, not only in France, but also abroad, have already announced their participation in the exhibition in 2020.

The boats and booths will be equipped in accordance with the prevention and safety plan formulated by the exhibition organizers and presented to the prefecture, the Cannes authorities and suppliers. The plan is based on recommendations by the French Federation of Event Organisers (UNIMEV) and a similar document by the Reed Exhibitions Group, suitable for trade fairs around the world. During the exhibition in Cannes, the flow of visitors will be artificially regulated, all guests and exhibitors will be required to wear masks, and there will be points with hand sanitizers. Public areas will be permanently disinfected.

Depending on the social distance requirements, which will be relevant at the end of August and beginning of September, the exhibition may go beyond its usual boundaries and occupy new areas that will be allocated by the Cannes administration. Due to the state of uncertainty, the organizers are working on several possible scenarios for the exhibition.

«The yachting industry in France and around the world has been and continues to suffer serious damage. That's why we are making every effort and applying all our experience to ensure that the exhibition will be held in 2020. This will allow industry representatives to come together, showcase their products and developments and meet customers face to face again," explains»Sylvie Hern.

The organizers do not lose hope that the exhibition in Cannes will inspire people with optimism about the season 2020-2021. All the more so because not so long ago this optimism was undermined by the cancellation of the Monaco Yacht Show, the second major autumn boat show.
