Not your ordinary catamaran: This Is It by Tecnomar

Set sail under the Tecnomar brand, a subsidiary of The Italian Sea Group (TISG), the 43.5-meter motor catamaran This is It makes waves at this year's Monaco Yacht Show, emerging as one of the show's most remarkable vessels.

The brainchild of TISG's in-house team and engineered by Lateral Naval Architects in the UK, This Is It is not your ordinary catamaran. And here's why.

The inventive exterior of the catamaran

The sculptural exterior of This Is It, previously known as Project Innovation, is a spectacle, enveloped by over 600 square metres of glass windows. That is to say, a feature that posed significant weight control challenges. According to TISG, the complex curved shape of the aluminium superstructure also pushed the production and engineering to the limits in its best way.

The cocooning interior of the yacht

Interiors are the work of Mattia Piro and Gian Marco Campanino of The Italian Sea Group. The spaces exude a futuristic elegance, adorned in champagne and platinum-grey hues with smooth finishes like Alcantara suede, high-quality leather, and bronze, platinum, and gold metallic surfaces.

Featuring a galley with polarised glass for events and show cooking, the interior of This Is It mirrors the futuristic vision of the exteriors. Gian Marco describes it as smooth, cocooning, and curvilinear, with an added touch of luxury through sophisticated and precious materials. Boasting a gross tonnage of approximately 750 GT, This Is It accommodates 12 guests across its ensuite cabins.

The master suite onboard the catamaran

The spacious owner's area is a highlight, with a large skylight and a generous head height of 3.3 metres. It exudes the ambience of a seaside villa with a panoramic terrace and a vertical garden spanning two decks.

While the overall mood is dynamic, enveloping, and sporty, it maintains an elegant and refined colour palette, thanks to light tones of beige and platinum grey. Likewise, the infusion of noble metals such as gold, bronze, titanium, and carbon contrasts beautifully with the calming natural wood tones and leather finishes.

Astonishing lounges of the yacht

The main lounge is a marvel, featuring floor-to-ceiling doors that seamlessly connect with the exterior lounge, creating a holistic area that includes a bar, a game area, a swimming pool, and a formal dining space.

While the upper deck houses a spa with a dedicated treatment area, sauna, and a fashionable sensorial shower. Adjacent to the spa, is the yacht's playroom, a convertible cabin suitable for entertaining children or serving as an additional guest cabin, as per the shipyard's description.

Amazing engineering of This Is It

This Is It's hull is meticulously optimised, resulting in efficient hydrodynamics and reduced fuel consumption. Meeting the stringent IMO Tier III emissions standards, the catamaran is equipped with innovative exhaust gas treatment technology. Therefore, the Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) will minimise nitrogen oxide emissions.

Giovanni Costantino, Founder and CEO of The Italian Sea Group, comments on the project, “The realisation of this extraordinary project challenges the conventional perceptions, driving us to recreate the boundaries of aesthetic parameters. This Is It is born as the perfect blend between the desires of a forward-thinking owner and a brand like Tecnomar, capable of taking on such an ambitious and demanding challenge.”

More projects to come

Michel Chryssicopoulos, Global Managing Partner at IYC, who managed the sale and project of This Is It, remarked, "This is definitely one of the most exciting and groundbreaking projects we have ever worked on. It further validates the trailblazing path the Italian Sea Group is setting as a leader in innovation and design.” Today IYC acts as an ambassador for The Italian Sea Group in the USA, and for instance, has seven under-construction projects at the Italian shipyards of the group. All are scheduled for delivery between 2024 and 2028.

As for the catamaran This Is It, TISG is showcasing it at the Monaco Yacht Show even before her official 2024 delivery. Further, after the delivery this visionary yacht will be available for charter as the largest motor catamaran meant for rent, with her season starting in April 2024.
