Designer description Warwick Yacht Design
Brand history
Allan Warwick received his architectural education in Auckland. In 1962 he built his first Townson boat. In company with Laurie Davidson, he designed the Davidson 31.
Warwick's first major offshore success was his Cardinal line of yachts built in Taiwan, which led him to the founding of Warwick Yacht Design in 1980 and over the years has developed speedboats, commercial boats, yachts and superyachts, many of which have been built in Europe and Turkey.
In total Warwick and his team have built over 500 boats, making him one of the most prolific and successful yacht designers in New Zealand.
Philosophy
As they say in Warwick Yacht Design, this is a business based on trust. When one of the company's clients, suffering from limb paralysis, wanted to build a boat for himself, the designers went to him and outlined the main dimensions right on the floor, so that he would appreciate if he could maneuver on his chair in such a space.
