Oceanco has launched the 72-metre support yacht Indratus, formerly Game Changer. The refit is taking place at its yard in Zwijndrecht, the Netherlands. The yacht was built by Damen in 2017. According to BOATPro, the refit began in March. The yard's Life Cycle Support division carried out what Oceanco calls "comprehensive upgrades and modifications" together with her 10-year survey. Handover to the owner is planned for this year. She will then join the Inkfish fleet alongside the 111-metre Leviathan and the 92.8-metre Draak.

How is Indratus different from Game Changer?

Little is known yet about what exactly was done on board; the main changes can be seen in the yard's photos of the roll-out. Judging by those photos, Indratus has a new livery of light grey topsides and superstructure, a dark lower hull and a turquoise stripe, in the same style as the rest of the Inkfish fleet. Going by the same photos, BOAT International says the upper deck appears to have been extended, with more open deck behind the wheelhouse, and that the interior area beneath the helideck has been transformed.

Oceanco did not build her. Life Cycle Support takes on yachts "whether she is part of our fleet or new to us", in the yard's words, and Indratus is the second Inkfish support vessel to come through Zwijndrecht this year. Draak went first and was redelivered in June.

What kind of vessel is Indratus?

Damen built Game Changer on speculation, with no client signed, and launched her in February 2017. She is the second hull of the Sea Axe 6911 series and sits on Damen's patented Sea Axe hull with its vertical stem. The first hull, the 69.15-metre Intrepid, was delivered in 2016 as support vessel to the superyacht Infinity. Game Changer got an extra 2.04-metre section aft, compared with the earlier 67-metre Sea Axes, to make room for a helicopter hangar.

She found a buyer in January 2018, less than a year after launch. Her owners ran her as a stand-alone expedition yacht, and in one year she logged 48,000 miles through Antarctica, Central America, Indonesia and Australia. She also won Best Support Vessel at the 2018 World Superyacht Awards.

In March 2020 she arrived at ICON Yachts at 69.15 metres and left at 72.15. The new stern carried a larger swim platform for diving and a beach club, a lounge right at water level. ICON also fitted a new interior, changed the crane layout and added a dedicated dive centre. In September 2021 she changed hands again, with an asking price of €49 million.

How is Indratus useful to the Inkfish fleet?

The Inkfish fleet is built for scientific research, giving researchers access to remote waters and to the equipment on its vessels. The flagship Leviathan, delivered by Oceanco in November 2025, has a dive centre, a laboratory and a hospital on board. Draak, a 2014 Oceanco, came back from Life Cycle Support in June as a support vessel. According to Oceanco, the two were conceived to operate together, with Draak taking over tenders, diving and heavy lifting.

Draak lost her helideck in that rebuild. Indratus brings a certified one, and a hangar.

Two more Inkfish vessels are on order at Vard. The 100-metre research vessel RV6000 had her keel laid in Romania in June and is due in the second quarter of 2028, according to SuperyachtNews. The 162-metre RV11000 is due in the first quarter of 2030.

Why is Game Changer easy to convert?

Damen built Game Changer to a high standard: she is a reliable vessel that can be converted for new roles and kept in service for many years.

New builds still take years. "A new commission at a leading shipyard means waiting until 2028 or beyond," Toby Moore, CEO of Monaco Yacht Show organiser Informa Prestige, said this summer.

BOAT International wrote in 2021 that a refit after purchase gave Game Changer's owners the vessel they wanted on their own timeline. She also took charters as a support vessel for other yachts, and Mike Rouse, the owners' representative, said what clients wanted from her depended on the region.

Mike Rouse, owner's representative, Game Changer (2021):“

In the Mediterranean it's predominantly as a helicopter platform and security, but in the Caribbean it's maybe security and diving, and in Antarctica it's for expedition staff.
