On the evening of 31 August the 45-metre TX450 went into the water at the Genoa yard of Tankoa, watched by her owner and his family. The yard has released no name for the boat. It describes the owner only as a Middle Eastern client and "a highly experienced yachtsman, having owned several yachts in the past." He signed the contract in 2023. She is the first hull of the TX450 line, designed to stay within 500 GT — below that threshold a yacht comes under lighter certification and crewing rules. Hybrid drivetrain.
"Seeing TX450 touch the water for the first time is a rewarding milestone for everyone involved in her creation," said Vincenzo Poerio, chief executive of Tankoa. He said the project had been a collaborative one with the owner from the very start, and the result is a thoroughly bespoke yacht.
How the hybrid system works
The hybrid system pairs conventional diesels with electric motors and a battery bank. Tankoa quotes 15 knots at half load (with tanks half full), 14 knots cruising. On batteries alone the boat can hold an anchorage overnight with every generator switched off and run on its electric motors for a few hours.
There is no range figure yet. The first check of those figures is already under way — sea trials began right after the launch.
A new project grown out of the T450 concept
The T450 platform has already produced Go in 2021 and Singolare in 2024. Tankoa insists this hull is "an entirely new yacht," 100 percent custom and "sharing only the same designer as her predecessor." The new boat has one more deck than that predecessor, a wider hull, and a different arrangement of the living areas.
There is room for up to ten guests in five staterooms. The owner's suite is on the main deck with guest cabins alongside it, and more accommodation goes below, including one convertible cabin. There is a gym and a spa area, plus an enclosed veranda on the bridge deck.
Giorgio Cassetta's studio, Cassetta Yacht Designers, drew the exterior and the interior, working directly with the owner. NAMES did the naval architecture — the hull itself and the calculations behind it — and inNave handled engineering alongside Tankoa's in-house technical department.
Sea trials and the delivery date
Tankoa says the boat has entered the final phase of construction, with sea trials and technical testing under way ahead of delivery. The release commits to no month. BOAT International puts handover in November 2026, an estimate from its own BOATPro data desk.
Two 50-metre T500 hulls are in build at the same shipyard, according to trade coverage of the programme.
