Category Description

A "Pilothouse" is a type of sailing boat with a deck saloon. Its layout, when all major controls are in the wheelhouse, allows the crew to operate the yacht efficiently and without having to go out on the open deck, especially in bad weather. The cockpit can still be accessed quite quickly.

Sailing yachts with a pilothouse are loved for their safety and all-around visibility. They are jokingly referred to as "wife friendly" as even the ladies who suffer from claustrophobia are not afraid to be on them. The interiors of these yachts are indeed lighter and more spacious, and a deckhouse with plenty of natural light and a view of the horizon helps overcome seasickness.

A yacht with a closed wheelhouse is, of course, less elegant than a boat without superstructures, which further reduces the speed of the sailboat. However, such yachts appeal to those travelers who are looking not for speed but comfort.

Yachts with Pilothouse are suitable for cold water areas.
