Overview
Designed by Jean Berret and built by Beneteau in France in 1986, the First 405 is a proven performance cruiser featuring a fin keel and spade rudder configuration that delivers responsive handling and excellent upwind performance.
With an overall length of 12.40 m (40.67 ft), a generous 3.89 m beam, and a displacement of 8,392 kg carrying 3,490 kg of ballast, she combines speed with the stability expected from a true offshore yacht.
TASMAN has been exceptionally maintained throughout her life. Apart from the addition of in-mast furling, she remains true to her original specification while consistently achieving comfortable passage speeds of 6–7 knots.
Powered by a dependable Perkins 4108 diesel engine and carrying 63.3 m² of sail area, she performs confidently across a wide range of conditions. She has safely weathered multiple Force 7 conditions, with seawater entering the cockpit only twice—testament to the exceptional hull design that made this model famous.

Since 2009, TASMAN has been based on the beautiful Greek island of Leros and is fully prepared for her next Mediterranean adventure.
