The shipyard has already produced a model with this name from 1998 to 2011. «The second arrival of the» 55CS took place in 2020. An updated cruiser with a Mediterranean cockpit was presented to the world during the boot Düsseldorf exhibition.
Exterior and interior design
The model is the result of a long collaboration between Contests Yachts and naval architects from the German company Vrolijk & co and interior designers from the Dutch studio Wetzels Brown & Partners.
In the exterior design, the low adjustment and the modern shape of the hull with a vertical stem and conical forward sections attract attention. The Lloyd's certified case has carbon reinforcement in key elements throughout the design. The keel zone, longitudinal and transverse stringers and bends are monolithic. At the same time, the use of the patented vacuum impregnation method reduces individual structural components and frees up space.
In the interiors of the 55CS the emphasis is on the skillful work of cabinetmakers.
In general, in terms of appearance and interior, the Contest 55CS adopted a lot from the older sisters: the 26-meter Contest 85CS and the 21-meter Contest 67CS.
Comfort on board
The designers who worked on Contest 55CS tried to make it as spacious as possible (the maximum width of the boat is 5 meters), but did not forget about safety. Everywhere on the sailboat there are ergonomic handrails and furniture ledges that can be grasped during the rocking.
The aft master stateroom during anchorage will delight the owner with beautiful panoramic views of the sea - it is only necessary to lower the hydraulic garage door for the tender, which will become a swimming platform.
Passengers in the other cabins will also not suffer from lack of natural light thanks to the increased number of portholes and skylights on deck. When the sun disappears, it will be replaced by a designer lighting system until morning.
Features .
The Contest 55CS will be a real chameleon, which, depending on the wishes of the future owner, can be in the form of a tender or sloop, with a carbon or aluminum rankout, with an intra-mast mainsail or traditional corrugation system.
On all Contest yachts, the interiors are built at the Shipyard in Medeblik, allowing for customisation, modification and elaboration of individual details.
Swimming area
«Many options will allow you to sail anywhere and anytime, and with just as much pleasure, anywhere you want to be anchored.Safe, spacious and comfortable to live in all waters in all conditions - such is the Contest 55CS - as this ocean cruiser is»described at the shipyard.
Despite its size, the boat offers the comfort and quality of a superyacht finish, while still being a practical and seaworthy bluewater cruiser that can go at least around the world.
