Overview and Design
The Rodman 1290 Evolution builds upon the proven hull of the 1250, incorporating advancements to enhance its appeal for family cruising without compromising its fishing capabilities. This model introduces larger windows for increased light and visibility, along with raised hull sides and elevated side decks to create more interior volume.
The cockpit is spacious, with a beam of nearly 14 feet, offering ample space for both fishing and leisure activities. Key features include a deep bait well, which can be converted into a barbecue area. There are fold-down benches on either side and an optional transom bench. The design includes rod holders and robust stainless steel fairleads to keep the deck clear, and a large swim platform with an integrated swim ladder and cow horns for easy access from the water.
The side decks are elevated by about seven inches compared to the 1250, providing additional interior volume. Elevated guardrails, bolted from underneath for a clean look, enhance safety. The foredeck features high guardrails for security and space for sun pads, with skylights to provide light to the cabins below.
Flybridge and Engine Options
The flybridge is compact but well-arranged, with twin helm seats positioned aft for visibility of the cockpit. There is space for a live raft or an optional barbecue, and a forward sunbathing platform with a drop-in table for entertaining guests.
The 1290 Evolution offers a choice between shaft drives and IPS drives. With the IPS drives, you can opt for D6 500, 600, or 650 engines, providing top speeds of 30, 33, or approximately 38-39 knots, respectively.
Interior and Cabins
The interior is designed for comfort and practicality, featuring a galley-up configuration with a two-burner gas or electric cooktop, oven, and ample storage. A C-shaped dinette opposite the galley can convert into a double berth, and the use of high-quality marine ply with teak, mahogany, or oak veneers adds to the aesthetic appeal.
The lower deck includes a master suite in the bow with ample storage, natural light, and USB charging points. A mid-cabin with an L-shaped layout provides additional sleeping space and storage. There is a head compartment with a separate shower.
Helm
The helm station features twin helm seats with bolsters, a side door for easy access to the side deck, space for dual 12-inch or larger chart plotters, well-placed controls, and an adjustable steering wheel.
