De Antonio Yachts has made a notable debut at the Palmer Boat Show with their new model, the E23. This vessel is both the company's first catamaran and their first fully electric boat, marking a significant innovation while maintaining the principles that have driven their success.
Exterior and Design
The E23 showcases De Antonio’s signature design, featuring a raised island sunbed at the stern, which traditionally conceals outboard engines. This design not only extends the deck but also provides the benefits of both outboard and inboard propulsion. The electric outboard, a Torqeedo Deep Blue model, is seamlessly integrated into this design, ensuring a clean and practical layout.
The catamaran's hull extensions add buoyancy to compensate for the additional weight of the extended deck. The E23 is equipped with a small fixed foil that enhances efficiency, kicking in between 12 and 15 knots. The BMW battery bank beneath the deck provides up to six hours of cruising time and a top speed of 30 knots for approximately 1.5 hours, translating to a 45-nautical mile range.
Interior and Features
The helm station on the E23 is modern and clean, featuring a comprehensive control panel for propulsion and battery data. Notably, the boat includes trim tabs to manage transverse trim due to its narrow beam, which is about 30% of the boat's overall length.
The cockpit area is designed for versatility and comfort, with reversible helm seats and a permanent bench to create a family-friendly dining space. The symmetrical side decks provide easy access to the sunken cockpit and are practical for seamanship duties.
The forward section of the boat includes a deep U-shaped seating area capable of accommodating up to eight people, with an optional table in the center. Canvases can be rigged to provide shelter, making it suitable for various weather conditions.
Practicality and Performance
Practical features of the E23 include a cleverly designed swim platform, shore power access, and a toilet, which is a surprising addition for a boat of this scale. The anchor system projects outward to avoid damaging the fiberglass, and the pram hood can be run at speeds up to 30 knots without issue.
The pricing for the De Antonio E23 starts at €130,000 plus tax, but to fully maximize its potential as a leisure platform, the cost realistically reaches around €145,000. Given its electric propulsion and practical design, the E23 is poised to attract significant interest in the market.
