The 40m Spirit 130 has been in existence for almost 10 years. The boat promises to be the pinnacle of British Spirit Yachts' craftsmanship and will surpass existing J-Class projects.
Exterior and interior design
Traditionally designed by shipyard founder Sean McMillan, the Spirit 130 follows the aesthetics of America's Cup «Golden Age» yachts - the J-Class. But made of wood with powerful sailing arms, the Spirit 130 should outperform its «great-grandmothers» in terms of weight to power ratio - only 105 tonnes of displacement against 160, for example, at Endeavour. According to McMillan, it will be the fastest of the classic yachts.
The Spirit 130 Exterior is typical of the «classics»: large bow and stern overhangs, low sides, clean lines and large deck spaces. As with the other Spirit, «the tip will» be the circular glazing of the superstructure for maximum natural light in the saloon.
The interior is planned on two levels, where the salon and dining area are at different heights. In the absence of information on the interior decoration, we can safely assume that it will be mahogany in the best execution.
Amenities on board
The Spirit 130 can potentially accommodate up to 12 guests and 4-6 crew members, whose accommodation can be made autonomous. Traditionally, the owner's cabin is located aft with a separate entrance.
Features
Spirit is famous for its developments in hydraulics and «green» engines. The experience of the yard's existing projects will allow Spirit 130 to become not only the fastest but also the greenest yacht of our time.
Swimming area
The «big boat» competition calendar is concentrated in the Mediterranean Sea and naturally the Spirit 130 will live there as well. Given the high temperatures, the glass windows of the portholes will protect the salon and cabins from overheating.
