AC45 catamarans will be given hydrofoils

All six teams participating in the 35th America's Cup «» have agreed to modify their AC45 catamarans, according to the regatta website. This means that the competition boats will receive full hydrofoils for the start of the America's Cup World Series (ACWS).

Teams have also agreed to have the modified catamarans used in 2018 as well - after the Cup, again, as part of the ACWS.

It is anticipated that the new AC45s will be raced as early as the 2015 season.

However, an examination has been tabled to see if the modifications can be postponed until 2016 due to the time it will take to refurbish the vessels.

Recall that six teams will participate in the next America's Cup: Oracle Team USA, Team New Zealand, Ben Ainslie Racing, Team France, Artemis, Luna Rossa Challange .
