The first stage of the Black Sea Big Sail Regatta ended in Novorossiysk

The big sailing ships stayed in Novorossiysk for three days, after which they set off for Sochi, where the finals of the second stage of the Black Sea Regatta will be held.

The winner of the first stage of the Constanta-Novorossiysk race in class «A» was «Mir», second place was «Nadezhda», bronze went to the Polish Pogoria. In the «B class» Romanian Adornate has the lead, followed by Atyla sailing from the Republic of Vanuatu. In classes «C» and «D» the winner is Russian record holder «Akela». The awarding ceremony was held on 18th of September in Novorossiysk.

All the three days of mooring in the Russian city the sailing ships were open for visitors. During this time more than 12 thousand people strolled along the decks of the famous ships.

As a part of the regatta program of events, there were team competitions with the crews of four Russian sailing ships of «A class»: «Kruzenshtern», «Nadezhda» and «Mir», and also the Polish sailing ship Pogoria and the Bulgarian Kaliakra.

The sailors competed in four sports: mini-football, volleyball, street basketball, and the traditional tug-of-war. The absolute champion was the team «Krusenstern», which won in mini-football and street basketball. The team received an honorary Champions Cup. In the volleyball competition «Kruzenshtern» came in second, losing first place to «Hope».

Fireworks and a sail parade rounded off the festivities.
