The absolute winner of the 38th Rolex Middle Sea Race offshore was the Russian team of «Bogatyr» Igor Rytov. Despite the fact that part of the regatta fleet is still on its way to the finish line, none of the participants will be able to beat the corrected time of «Bogatyr».

This is the first time ever that an all-Russian team has won the famous 600-mile race.
«We knew we had a chance when we entered the final stage of the race, and it gave us energy on the last night», shared Igor Rytov.

The team distinguished themselves twice at this year's Rolex Middle Sea Race by becoming the division leader in IRC 6 and also the first team to complete the race under the Russian flag.

The top prize, a Rolex Middle Sea Trophy and a Rolex watch, will be presented to the winners at the official prize-giving ceremony on October 28.

Igor Rytov's crew «Russian Bogatyrs» topped the European Melges World League standings this year, winning two of the five championship rounds, and securing the European champion title in the Melges 20 class.

Recall that the first boat to reach the finish line in this year's Rolex Middle Sea Race was the Rambler 88 monohull led by George David, making it the third time he has won the regatta's line honours.
