Love with your ears: The Ferretti Group introduced «music» Pershing 8X

A new member of the «X Generation family» has made its official debut at Boot Düsseldorf - the Pershing 8X.

The creators of the 25.55m carbon fibre boat point out that the Pershing 8X has the right to be called the real evolution of the Pershing 82, and its lines are even sleeker and sportier. It is the result of a collaborative effort between the designer Fulvio De Simoni, the Ferretti product development committee headed by Piero Ferrari , and the group's engineering department.

The Pershing 8X is equipped with a high quality speaker allowing you to enjoy your favourite music even underwater.

A true know-how has been developed by the Ferretti Group in collaboration with Videoworks. The musical device can be controlled both through the VOTIS infotainment system and through gadgets such as a smartphone or tablet. Obviously, there's no practical relevance here, but agree that listening to your favorite songs while swimming or diving underwater is very pleasant.

» The side wings, a trademark of Pershing, and the sportbridge with a pronounced «aerodynamic profile also characterise the 8X. According to Stefano De Vivo, these wings are more than just a stylistically appealing design solution. They are «wings of the new Pershing era».

The staircase leading up to the sun deck is integrated into one of the side wings and is an example of how an initially functional element can also be beautiful in terms of aesthetics.

Its steel steps are painted black, coated in teak and framed in carbon fibre.

At a width of 5.86 meters, the Sportbridge 8X turns out to be surprisingly spacious. The 15m² sun deck is equipped with sun loungers and a sofa and provides for outdoor relaxation in the fresh sea air. The main deck is divided into three areas: lounge, dining area and control station. The flight deck can be accessed by either door on the port or starboard side through the two doors leading out from the control station.

The layout provides accommodation for eight guests in four double staterooms on the lower deck: a full-beam master suite with dressing room and ensuite, forward VIP stateroom with ensuite on port side, and two twin guest cabins with single beds and shared bathroom on starboard side. Three crew members sleep in single and double cabins.

The water toy garage is spacious enough to accommodate a Williams Sportjet 345 tender and jet ski.

Power comes from a pair of MTU 16V 2000 M96 engines, each producing 2,435 hp. The claimed top speed is 45 knots, while the cruising speed is 38 knots. Alternatively, manufacturers offer two MTU 16V 2000 M96L (one with 2 638 hp), which are installed in the first hull of the new series. Maximum speed with this configuration exceeds 48 knots, and cruising speed is equal to 41 knots. Alas, the formula «more power - less living space» works here too: in the version with M96L engines, one should be satisfied with only three guest cabins.

«Being the Ferretti Group means capturing as much attention from fans as fashion houses do during the Milan shows or Ferrari when it unveils the new «Formula One car». We unveiled our "formula" in Düsseldorf, the fantastic Pershing 8X in carbon fiber. I would say we started the year on pole position»," says Ferretti Group CEO Alberto Galassi.
