Due to the latest EU sanctions Russian yachtsmen may also suffer. It became known that boats moored on the Cote d'Azur may be confiscated.
At that, the French law enforcers will be entitled to seize the property only from the Russians. Ships registered on the citizens of other states will not be affected by this operation.
The measure is part of the system of sanctions imposed after Crimea and Sevastopol became part of the Russian Federation. A little earlier, the USA froze the assets of some Russian politicians and businessmen on its territory and refused to cooperate with Russia in the fight against drugs. Norway refused to cooperate militarily with Russia, and the G8 summit in Sochi was cancelled.
Whether Russia will respond to the sanctions is unknown: no official comments have been received yet.
