Dutch shipyard Amels, part of Damen Shipyards, is so pleased with the bespoke Amels 78 created by Espen Øino that their next project has not been long in coming. Meet Amels 60, the newest member of the Limited Editions range.

Construction of the first hull of the 60m hybrid has already begun. Delivery is slated for spring 2022.

The boat features a spacious sun deck, oversized swim platform and floor-to-ceiling windows on the main deck. A helipad is located adjacent to the whirlpool, with a nine-metre tender on the foredeck.

«When she touches the water in 2022, she will be instantly recognizable»," Espen Oino hints at the uniqueness of his creation.

Damen Shipyards, the parent company of the Amels brand, was the naval architect who created the entirely new hull form that promises a balance between the comfort of full displacement and fuel economy. The interiors were designed by London-based studio Indigo, whose creative directorMike Fisher describes them as «chic and modern, with a rich variety of fabrics and textures».

With a gross tonnage of 830 gross tons, a total of 12 guests can be accommodated aboard in six deluxe staterooms, including an owner's suite with private folding balconies. Crew accommodations, excluding the captain's cabin, are also designed to accommodate 12 guests.

As a hybrid, the«sixty» will develop up to seven knots powered by electric engines with a maximum speed of 15.5 knots.

A transatlantic range of 4,500 nautical miles at 13 knots is also promised.

Noise, vibration, fuel insolence - all this is definitely not about Amels 60.

What's more, the yard claims the hybrid propulsion system developed specifically for the Amels 60 is traditionally low-maintenance and low-emission. The selective catalytic reduction filters used also contribute to the eco-friendliness.

Since 2007 Amels has built over 40 Limited Editions yachts from 55 to 83 metres in length. One of the brand's recent deliveries is Aurora Borealis.
