Video: First sailboat on foils undergoing sea trials

The Finnish shipyard Baltic Yachts is successfully running the running of the 43,3-metre sailing cruiser with Baltic 142 Custom Canova foils. The first superyacht in the world equipped with DSS foils was launched on May 13th and on May 23rd the company published a video in Pietarsaari waters, where the shipyardis located, showing the boat in all her glory.

«Results confirmed expectations for her sailing performance, hybrid diesel-electric engine and the design of the hydroelectric power generation system - in short, everything that is designed to make hermore environmentally friendly and quieter, more comfortable and easier to operate»," commented «promising» results of Canova's testing at Baltic Yachts.

She was designed by the yard in collaboration with GordonKay of Infiniti Performance Yachts and the America's Cup Engineers «» of BAR Technologies. The naval architecture of the boat was the responsibility of FarrYacht Design studio. The interiors were designed by Lucio Micheletti.

Canova's mainsail area is 570 square metres. Another 390 square meters of sail area is contributed by the jib. North Sails were chosen for the boat.
