Crimea will become the yacht capital of Russia

The Russian government plans to invest $2bn in the development of yacht tourism on the Crimean peninsula, IBI Magazine reports.

According to the publication, there are plans to build 15 new marinas by the year 2020. This will create 6 thousands of new working places.

The reasons of this decision are also explained by the mass media: the interest towards yacht tourism in the Crimea dropped down drastically after the region became a part of Russia. In particular the number of yachts in Sevastopol decreased by three times, says Vladimir Glinyanik, vice-president of FPS.

To correct the situation apart from development of yachting infrastructure in Crimea they plan to simplify registration of yachts entering ports. Additional events - festivals and regattas - are also planned.
