Dead fish washed ashore in the capital of the 2016 Olympics

The waters of Rio de Janeiro, the city that will host the 2016 Olympics, are heavily polluted. Last week, there was another reminder: several hundred dead fish washed ashore near the city.

It is not yet clear what caused the mass death of sea creatures. Researchers are convinced that the pollution of coastal waters does not have anything to do with it, but fishermen and local residents blame the company Petrobas, which discharges chemical waste into the Gulf of Guanabara.

Either way, the public is once again asking an important question: will the authorities be able to prepare the waters in time for the sailing competitions?
