The trimaran Maxi 80 Prince de Bretagne, skippers Lionel Lemonchois and BernardStamm, lost her mast 93 miles from the finish line during the Transat Jacques Vabre offshore regatta. The photo shows him being towed to El Salvador by the Brazilian military. Even without the breakdown, however, the Prince of Brittany had no chance of winning: the 100-footers took over the podium. Thomas Coville's Sodebo Ultim was the first to finish, followed an hour later by Edmond de Rothschild's Mahi.

The 2017 Transat Jacques Vabre Regatta started on 5 November in Le Havre, France. During the regatta, the 50-foot trimaran Multi 50 Drekan Groupe overturned on its way to Salvador, Brazil, forcing Eric Defert and Christopher Pratt to abandon the race.
