Yachting Developments Bliss Overview
Bliss is a fast yacht designed by Ed Dubois in close collaboration with the design firm Design Unlimited. The boat has a very light carbon fiber hull (reportedly about a quarter lighter than other yachts of comparable length) and a very high (over 33%) proportion of ballast in the displacement. This increases her recovery torque and allows her to carry a full sail longer or sail with less roll.
Curiously, such a large vessel does not have any power steering - the helm and balancer are permanently rigidly connected, giving the helmsman an incredible feel of a yacht at the helm (this was done specifically at the request of the owner, a very experienced yachtsman).
Unusual for a sailing boat, the interior is also unusual, with an abundance of cool (gray, blue and dark brown) tones in combination with polished steel.
