This modern and at the same time classic sailing ship was first launched in January 2020. However, at that time the work on it had not yet been fully completed. The handover ceremony will take place later.
Interior and exterior design
The challenge for Meraki's builders was to build a sailing boat that would be used not only for cruising but also for racing. After research they came to the decision to make the sides of the yacht slightly tapered towards the deck. Because of this the maximum width of the hull and the maximum width of the deck are not the same. This was done in order to increase the amount of recovery torque affecting stability and to obtain an optimum roll angle.
For better performance on sharp courses, the ballast keel is complemented with a large centerboard.
Meraki - ketch. She will be rigged with a bisan mast jib, jib and gennaker which can be rigged with a blind or genoa by means of a detachable staff. She will also be complete with a number of additional jibs, asymmetric spinnakers and code zero, all manufactured by Doyle. The hull is equipped with a furling system.
She has horizontal hydraulic winches below deck and Harken drum winches for halyards and running lines. The carbon standing rigging was ordered from Southern Spars.
Onboard amenities
The saloon is quite traditionally located on the midships.
Features .
There are two cockpits on deck, the center cockpit with two steering wheels and the aft cockpit. However, the aft cockpit and the owner's cabin are directly connected.
