Superyacht Highlander, whose name translates as «Highlander», is a true piece of world history. She was built for Malcolm Forbes, American entrepreneur and publisher of Forbes magazine, and has been owned by his family for decades. Liz Taylor, Robert De Niro, Harrison Ford, Margaret Thatcher, Prince Charles and many other movie stars and heads of state have climbed aboard her at various times.
Exterior and Interior Design
Having undergone a total refit at the Derecktor shipyard in 2014 and losing the article «The» in her name, the boat has retained her exterior angularity. True, it now hides a much greater elegance of form.
The bulk of the interior is finished in gorgeous anegris wood and, to a lesser degree, in darker shades of wenge.
Onboard amenities
Originally, the layout was skewed, as Mr. Forbes wanted, in favor of the saloons and work/meeting rooms. Now the layout has been re-designed to include more staterooms and bulkheads.
The new owner has a spacious master suite at the forward end with two ensuite bathrooms. Each of the six luxury guest suites also have a private bathroom.
Note that the remodeling lengthened the boat by adding a swim platform and an additional outdoor area in the bow of the upper deck, perfect for alfresco dining.
Special features .
Given the great number of tall persons who have stepped on deck «Highlander», it is no surprise that the yacht has been endowed with a cellar for expensive wine since her birth.
