Athos is by far the largest privately owned two-masted schooner. The boat is built solely for personal use and is very rarely chartered - literally for 3-4 weeks a year. Hence the prices - starting at $180,000 per week. A great deal of design work was carried out including pool testing and wind tunnel blasting on a 19 foot model. The boat has a classic shape with a shallow long keel and retractable centerboard. An abundance of hydraulics makes this boat controllable with practically "one button". A curiosity: in addition to the usual suite of entertainment equipment, Athos has two Polaris FIBs (Flying Inflatable Boat) on board, so that guests with a pilot's license can try their hand in the air as well.
