Ferretti 500: Model Info

The Ferretti Yachts 500 is the smallest flybridge model in Ferretti’s lineup, replacing the 450. This yacht is powered by twin 550 horsepower Cummins QSB 6.7 diesel engines on V-drive shafts.

Exterior and Decks

The Ferretti 500 features a hydraulic bathing platform and an extended passarelle, both optional. The aft section includes a storage compartment and access from both sides with boarding gates. The cockpit maximizes outdoor living space with a versatile dinette that converts into a sun pad. Mooring gear is hidden under lids, with substantial cleats, fairleads, and winches for easy handling.

The side decks provide safe passage to the bow, although the railings are a bit low, making an additional handhold desirable. The bow area offers pure sunbathing space with flip-up backrests for comfortable seating. The anchor locker could benefit from partitioning to separate ropes and fenders from the chain.

Flybridge

The flybridge features an improved staircase, a teak deck, and a Bimini for shade. The large seating area has an extendable table and a wet bar with an optional grill. The helm station is clean and upright, designed for both standing and seated driving. Adjacent to the helm, there is ample sunbathing space with backrests and practical storage solutions.

Interior

The interior of the Ferretti 500 is designed to maximize space and comfort. The window in the saloon can pop up to connect the cockpit with the saloon seamlessly. The galley, though small, is functional with adequate surface space, a four-burner induction hob, microwave, dishwasher, and under-counter fridge/freezer units.

The saloon features comfortable cloth material seating, a large dinette, and an electrically retractable TV. The lower helm station includes an adjustable seat and electric blinds for convenience. The open area below the windscreen allows natural light to flood the lower deck.

Accommodation

The full-beam master suite is midships, offering good headroom, substantial storage, and a luxurious feel. It includes a large TV, side tables, electric blinds, and opening ports for ventilation. The ensuite bathroom is well-finished but would benefit from sliding doors to save space.

The VIP cabin forward has a decent amount of floor space, a good-sized bed, and ample storage, although only one side has charging facilities. The twin guest cabin to starboard is well-sized with reasonable storage and its own hanging locker.

Performance and Handling

The Ferretti 500 is designed for relaxed cruising with a top speed of around 30 knots and a cruising speed of 24-25 knots. It offers a range of approximately 200 nautical miles at cruising speed. The boat handles well, with a soft ride and quiet operation even in choppy conditions. The helm is clear and well laid out, with the option to drive from the flybridge for better visibility and easier communication with the crew.

Summary

The Ferretti 500 blends luxury, functionality, and performance, making it a solid choice for those seeking a compact yet capable flybridge yacht. Its thoughtful design, quality build, and comfortable living spaces ensure a pleasurable experience both at sea and at anchor.
