Prestige X70 Overview

The Prestige X70 represents a bold departure from the traditional design of Prestige Yachts. While it shares the same hull and IPS engine options as the Prestige 680 Flybridge, it features a unique layout with no side decks on the main deck. This allows the cockpit and saloon to utilize the full 17.5-foot beam, resulting in an exceptionally spacious and innovative design.

Performance and Handling

The X70, weighing approximately 45 tons when loaded, has a different feel compared to the 680. It pushes through the water confidently but can be somewhat lethargic and prone to wallowing due to its higher weight distribution. The boat is best suited for straight-line cruising rather than agile maneuvers. For improved stability in swells, a SeaKeeper 9 or 18 is recommended, with the SeaKeeper 18 being a particularly valuable addition for enhancing comfort both underway and at anchor.

The driving position on the X70 is well-designed, with clearly laid out controls, touch screens for navigation and engine information, and an adjustable steering wheel. The helm seat is comfortable and adjustable, though it would benefit from a more user-friendly sliding mechanism.

Engine Options and Performance

The X70 offers two engine options: IPS 1200 with 900 horsepower per side and IPS 1350 with 1000 horsepower per side. Given the boat's weight and potential additional load from cruising equipment, the IPS 1350 is recommended. This engine configuration delivers a top speed of 28 knots and a cruising speed of 20 knots, consuming around 220 liters per hour for a range of approximately 350 nautical miles.

Deck Layout and Features

The X70's deck layout is notably different, with the elimination of side decks on the main deck, allowing for a spacious cockpit that seamlessly merges with the saloon. Standard equipment on the X70 includes a hydraulic bathing platform, beach club, and hardtop.

Cockpit and Flybridge

The cockpit area is modular, allowing for customizable furniture arrangements. Features include a standard island, optional wet bar, sunshade, and storage for sea bobs. Twin staircases lead to the flybridge, which also offers flexible furniture arrangements and ample seating. The flybridge helm station is ergonomically designed with fully adjustable seats, a comprehensive helm setup, and the ability to enclose the area with plastic for all-weather use.

Interior

The main deck of the X70 is designed as an unbroken living space with a seamless transition between the cockpit and saloon. The galley is located amidships, facilitating easy service to both the interior and exterior dining areas. High-end appliances, bespoke storage, and a large domestic fridge/freezer are standard.

Master Cabin

The master cabin, situated forward on the main deck, offers excellent headroom, a walk-in wardrobe, and a luxurious ensuite bathroom with a separate shower cubicle. The cabin's design includes thoughtful touches like a bureau, sofa, and ample storage.

Guest Accommodation

Guest accommodation is located on the lower deck, with a VIP cabin that features a bureau, wardrobe, and an ensuite bathroom. Two additional twin cabins can be configured to create a full-beam double cabin, providing flexibility based on guest needs. The twin cabins share a day head.

Engine Room and Crew Cabin

The engine room, accessible via a deck hatch in the cockpit or through the crew cabin, offers impressive headroom and well-organized access to all systems. The boat is powered by IPS 1350 engines, with pod drives located under the floor of the crew cabin. The crew cabin provides comfortable accommodation with excellent access to the engine room.

Summary

The Prestige X70 combines innovative design with luxurious features, creating a unique yachting experience. With spacious interiors, flexible layouts, and advanced technology, it offers both comfort and performance for discerning boat owners.
