The Arrow 460 GT speedboat has undergone sea trials ahead of its official release later this spring. The speedboat with nearly 1,000 horsepower cruised the French Riviera.

The 14-meter silver boat, which looks like AMG GT-S supercar, is designed by «Mercedes» in collaboration with Monaco-based Silver Arrows Marine. Construction took place in Switzerland, at the Decision SA shipyard. More than four years have passed since the first renders of the model were made public.
Project chairman Ron Gibbs said the company will not sell more than one Arrow 460 GT per country, «so we can guarantee that only one person in each country has the right to say: I am the first captain of the first Silver Arrow of the Seas».

The Arrow 460 GT is powered by two 480 hp Yanmar 6LY3A engines, which will be capable of producing a top speed of 40 knots. To simplify the process of mooring the boat is equipped with a joystick.

Other features of the boat are a 910-litre fuel tank and category B («open sea») of the EU Recreational Boat Directive allowing cruising in close waters(Baltic, North and Mediterranean).
The tradition to paint Mercedes cars in silver paint goes back to 1934, when Mercedes-Benz W25 bolide was one kilogram heavier than allowed due to the miscalculation of engineers. To correct the situation, the Germans cleaned the car down to bare metal from the newly applied white enamel.
