Heesen Yachts announced that it has delivered the world's first steel-hulled Fast Displacement superyacht to an owner. The 50+ metre yacht successfully passed sea trials and was delivered to the owner in international waters.

Azamanta has been designed by Van Oossanen in collaboration with naval architects Heesen Yachts and will, according to the yard, comfortably travel to polar latitudes.

The boat is capable of reaching good speeds (max speed of 16.9 knots) and is also energy efficient: to move 600 tons of steel and aluminum at 15 knots she needs only 1650 kW of power.

The ship was designed by Omega Architects. For example, the aft portion of the superstructure is completely free of any support columns and allows for a panoramic view of the sea. Also, the windows of the boat are vertical, which is not typical for Heesen.
