Information has appeared in the yacht media about the sinking of Polina Star III from the famous Oyster shipyard in July. According to one of the versions, the yacht collided with an underwater object the day before the accident and as a result the hull was seriously damaged. The following day, July 4th, the yacht sank. There were five crew members on board (two Italians and three Russians), who were successfully rescued by a Spanish rescue service. Unverified sources claim that the yacht capsized before sinking.

The question of what happened to the boat is still open. The Oyster shipyard is currently conducting an investigation. Divers are examining the hull of the sunken Polina Star III.

The 27-metre Polina Star III was launched in May 2014. She is «an extended» version of the classic 25-metre Oyster 825. According to an independent expert report, the design of the boat met all safety standards, as revealed by David Tydeman, CEO of Oyster Marine. Nevertheless Oyster Marine has taken the decision to thoroughly review the entire Oyster 825 series (two yachts are now in the water and three are under construction).

«Our customers' safety comes first.» We will do everything we can to identify the cause of the Polina Star III crash and to make future models even more practical and unsinkable," said David Tidman.

The news in itself is exceptional as Oyster sailboats are not only beautiful but renowned for their reliability. In the yard's 42-year history such incidents have never happened.
