«Ecoholding LLC» will invest 6 billion rubles into reconstruction of St. Petersburg River Yacht Club in exchange for 49% of its shares.

The Leningrad Federation of Trade Unions, which owns the land of the yacht club on Petrovskaya Spit, did not listen to the demands of the yachtsmen to change the reconstruction project which, in their opinion, threatens the existence of the yacht club. The Yachtsmen suggest to use the master plan-project of St.-Petersburg River Yacht Club dated 1967.

The project «of Ecoholding» is not yet signed by the governor, but the investor has declared that it will be approved in the nearest year and a half.

Let us remind you that according to the project a temple and a stele with a monument to St. Vladimir, a hotel with 240 rooms and a SPA-center will be built on the Petrovskaya Spit. The building of the yacht club will be kept the same and there will also be a boathouse and a yacht storage area with a transformable roof.

According to the yachtsmen the project lacks many of the necessary infrastructure elements for yachting. Yachtsmen wrote a petition to the President, Prime Minister and the Governor of St. Petersburg demanding to save the St. Petersburg River Yacht Club. Almost 4700 signatures were collected under the petition.

St.-Petersburg River Yacht Club was founded in 1860 - one of the oldest in Russia. Today the yacht club is home to more than a hundred sailing yachts of various owners and almost as many dinghies, it has two sailing schools for children and a training shipyard NP «Project «Standart» which ensures participation in the international projects Atlantic Challenge and Tall Ships Races.
