Les Voiles de St. Barth was held in the French West Indies for the sixth time. There were 70 boats in ten different classes – from fast multihulls like Lloyd Thornberg’s Mod 70 Phaedo 3 to technologically sophisticated single-hull maxi beginners like George Davids’ Rambler 88 or Jim Clark’s Comanche. The smallest competitors were Megles 24s. All the boats put up a fine fight; Phaedo 3 set a new record in the trimaran class, Comanche and Odin in the Maxi 1 and Maxi 2 classes. The last day of the event brought a few unpleasant surprises as the Gunboat G4 turned over. Fortunately there were no injuries. The results of the regatta can be seen here.
