A dizzying comeback

On Saturday, July 20, the sailing ship «Sedov»returned toSt. Petersburg from its round-the-world voyage. Without exaggeration a lot of people gathered at Lieutenant Schmidt quay to meet him. Someone came to meet their loved ones, whom they hadn't seen for a long time, and someone came to see the legendary ship. On the photo: a parade on the battlements in honour of the barque's arrival home.

However sailing on a sailing ship is not only sea romance but also exhausting work, as Andrei Sharkov, the president of Russian cruising club reminds: «A sailing ship in the ocean is really beautiful but from the side. On board it is constant and tedious work, a confined space squeezing your personal psychological comfort zone, separation from home and relatives, subconscious constant expectation that the ocean will make some mischief... And it lasts 14 months. It's not much like a cruise».
