The history of the company

The German shipyard Blohm+Voss received its name from its founding fathers,«»Hermann Blohm and Ernst Voss, who decided in 1877 to join forces to produce steel steamers. Since the beginning of the 30s motor yachts have also been built here, the first 136-meter Savarona. This was followed by a break with the beginning of World War II when the company switched to the production of military aircraft, submarines and, of course, military ships.

After the war, the shipyard was rebuilt. However, construction of superyachts was resumed only in the late 80's, on a wave of fashion for such vessels. And since the end of the 2000s, things have been going badly. The yachts were sold only once - this led to a succession of owner changes, which ended in 2016 with the takeover of the German Lürssen, a long-time competitor, the same pillar of the global yachting industry.

Status

As part of Lürssen, the shipyard will no longer produce yachts, but will retain and even expand its yacht refit and commercial and military construction activities.

Production .

The shipyard's sites are located in Hamburg and Kiel, covering a total area of 421,000 square meters. This is a powerful production complex, which can handle almost any shipbuilding task.

Fleet

Not surprisingly, the main emphasis in the construction of yachts here was on the production of large «caliber motor and sailing boats. The most notorious of these was yacht A (119m, 2008), the world's second largest Eclipse (162m, 2009) and Palladium (96m, 2010). Of course, these are strictly individual, often very courageous projects, and only the best specialists in the world are at the customer's service.

Features

Blohm+Voss boats bribe with that restrained power which is peculiar to few world manufacturers. And it's not so much the size as the impressive work of engineering and the desire to be the best, which is felt here literally in everything.
