Builder Viking Yachts
Viking Yacht Company
Route 9 "On the Bass River" PO Box 308 New Gretna, 08224
The brand Viking Yachts produces enclosed Yachts and sportfishers and Convertibles. There are 38 models from 11 to 29 meters in the current model range from 6 lines: Billfish, Enclosed Bridge, Motor Yachts, Open, Open Bridge and Sport Yachts.
The Viking Yachts brand came into being
The success of Viking Yachts brought the Viking 40' Convertible, released a year later, with more than 600 yachts sold in 16 years.
The company was constantly growing up until 1990. This decade has brought an unpleasant surprise to many businesses in the form of a luxury tax. So Viking reduced its staff from 1,500 to 80 people. To keep the firm afloat, the brothers invested their money. In parallel, Bob launched a powerful campaign to repeal the tax, which bore fruit in 1993. After that, the shipyard regained lost ground fairly quickly and even outperformed many competitors.
Since its inception, the shipyard has launched more than 4,000 semi-custom yachts, becoming a world leader in fiberglass hull boats.
Now the president of the company is Patrick Healey, son of Bob, continuing the family business.
«Viking Yachts' goal is to produce the best and brightest boats every day," he»says.
Viking Yachts' production facilities are located all over America: the main plants are located on the Bass River in the city.
The Viking group of companies also includes Palm Beach Towers, which designs and manufactures superstructures for sports fans, and Atlantic Marine Electronics, which develops multimedia solutions. It installs its product not only on Viking Yachts boats, but also on boats of other manufacturers. There is also a separate production facility in Egg Harbor City, where the company builds yachts under the Valhalla brand.
The Viking Yachts product range includes sport filchers with double-deck deckhouse, available in sizes from 11 to 28 meters. The company also offers closed cruising yachts with hardtop and gliding yachts with flybridge.
Not every shipyard can boast that it produces 90% of its own boat components. Materials and equipment are purchased, and the manufacturer is more than anyone else responsible for the quality of the final product. The developers pay special attention to ergonomics of both the bridge and living quarters, quality finishing and comfort of the crew and passengers.
