Heesen   was born in 1978. Frans Heesen, the founder of the company, was previously associated with the plastics industry and bought the Striker Boats Shipyard with a view to a completely different production. However, he decided not to change the profile of the yard and immediately started building large boats. A year later Heesen launched its first yacht, the 28-meter Amigo. In 1988 Octopussy became the fastest luxury yacht in the world with a speed of 53 knots.
By 1990 Heesen had built more than 25 yachts over 27m in length and gained a reputation as one of the leaders in the custom superyacht market.
In 1991, the 44-meter L'Aquasition was recognized as the Superyacht of the Year. In 1992 the shipyard added displacement motor yachts in a steel hull to its portfolio.
The company's fleet includes many well-known projects such as the avant-garde Aurelia (2011), Satori (2011), which has won many design awards, Galactica Star (2013), which used the Fast Displacement Hull Form for the first time or the first Heesen Home hybrid (2017). Since 2014, the shipyard has also been using the Hull Vane stern wing, an invention by Van Oossanen that reduces the fuel appetite of a yacht. At the end of 2018, the company announced its entry into the Explorer market. And in early 2019 the shipyard developed a new concept that will be the largest and fastest aluminium yacht in the world - Project Cosmos includes its own latest patented hull and spine «technology.
In 2008 Frans Heisen sold Heesen Yachts to «Lukoil President Vagit»Alekperov for €175 million.
Over the years Heesen has built more than 120 yachts and on average produces 3-4 superyachts per year. The company's production facilities in Oss allow to build yachts up to 83 meters long.
The shipyard builds custom motor superyachts up to 80 meters and more in steel displacement hulls or aluminium semi-displacement and fast displacement hulls (FDHF).
Firstly, Heesen is quality and seaworthiness. Secondly, Heesen is technology. Fast hull and Hull Vane technology allow to increase the autonomy of yachts and reduce fuel consumption by 30%. For Heesen's customers, glass lifts, clear bottom swimming pools, winter gardens, helipads and other attributes of yacht luxury have already become commonplace.
