Saxdor history
Saxdor was founded in 2019 by Sakari Mattila, who had previously built Aquador, Paragon, XO Boats, and Axopar into recognised Scandinavian brands. With Saxdor, Mattila focused on recreational dayboats — compact, outboard-powered hulls for leisure and water sports. The first model, the Saxdor 200, entered production in 2020 at the Polish facility in Elk. In March 2026, Malibu Boats (Nasdaq: MBUU) acquired Saxdor for approximately €150 million, adding the brand to a portfolio that includes Cobalt, Pursuit, and Cobia.
Production and facilities
Saxdor operates two production facilities: the main plant in Elk, Poland, and a facility in Larsmo, Finland, opened in October 2025 for the largest models. The combined workforce of approximately 800 builds around 700 boats per year in composite. All models are fitted exclusively with Mercury outboard engines via a Brunswick partnership. Navico and Simrad supply the electronics package.
Saxdor model range
The current range covers five size categories — 20, 27, 32, 34, and 40 feet — with the 460 GTC extending the fleet to 46 feet. Within each size, multiple body styles are offered: GTO (open), GTC (cabin), GTS (sport), and GTWA (walk-around), depending on the model. All boats are outboard-powered, all-Mercury. The range is built around a consistent design language: low profiles, wide cockpits, and configurable deck layouts, with fold-down bulwarks on selected models.
Design and features
Saxdor's market position rests on Scandinavian design at competitive pricing — boats priced against volume European manufacturers while carrying a design aesthetic closer to premium Scandinavian brands. The value-to-specification ratio is a deliberate part of the concept. Growth from launch to 2,000+ hulls in under six years is unusual in the recreational segment, reflecting strong product-market fit and efficient manufacturing scale-up.
