For the first time, three races were held at once in the Black Sea: Constanta-Novorossiysk, Novorossiysk-Sochi, and Sochi-Varna. The regatta was held in difficult wind conditions, from calm to strong headwinds. During the three stages of the race the Russian sailing boat Mir, the winner of the regatta in A class, tore 6 sails and Nadezhda, which came second twice, broke her mast. The absolute winner of Tall Ships 2016 in classes B, C and D was the Russian yacht "Akela". Russian President Vladimir Putin presented awards to the winners in Sochi.
