The yachting industry has just a few examples of successful collaborations between yachting and automotive brands. Well, that might change in 2024. Porsche joins hands with Austria's renowned Frauscher yard to develop an exclusive electric boat.

Frauscher x Porsche 850 Fantom Air is an 8,6-metre day cruiser, based on the Frauscher 858 Fantom Air. But promises exceptional driving characteristics and a luxury experience no worse than Porsche's high-performance sports cars. In October, Porsche and Frauscher will present the boat officially and share more images and details. The first unit of the limited edition of 25 will find its owner in 2024.

Porsche and Frauscher share a common vision for a future dominated by electric drives, offering quiet, smoke-free and reliable transportation. This collaboration opens new avenues for the Frauscher Shipyard, which has worked on boats with electrical engines since 1955. It allows it to expand its leading role in the industry. Moreover, both family-run entities are driven by innovation, design, and quality, making this partnership a perfect bond.

Will this Frauscher be like a Porsche Macan EV on the water?

At the heart of the Frauscher x Porsche 850 Fantom Air lies Porsche's drive technology, borrowed from the forthcoming all-electric Macan EV, whose sales start in 2024.

The Premium Platform Electric (PPE) serves as the foundation for this state-of-the-art automotive drive technology, boasting a lithium-ion high voltage battery with a total capacity of approximately 100 kWh, a cutting-edge permanently excited synchronous electric motor (PSM), and the related power electronics. With 800-volt technology, the electric boat will efficiently charge at DC fast chargers while supporting AC charging.

Striving to maintain its reputation for providing the sportiest model in its segment, Porsche has infused the E-Performance typical of its road vehicles into the Frauscher x Porsche 850 Fantom Air, offering outstanding driving properties.

The boat, designed to accommodate up to nine passengers, features a generous lounge area with sun pads, upholstered benches, and bimini tops for shade. The size and characteristics make  Frauscher x Porsche perfect for day trips or excursions to coastal towns while leaving the larger yacht anchored in the bay.

In and out of Frauscher x Porsche 850 Fantom Air

Designed by Studio F.A. Porsche, the helm and main console with throttle and integrated displays bear the distinguished design signature of Porsche. And ensure a harmonious fusion of functionality and aesthetics.

In 2024, the Frauscher x Porsche electric yacht will enable local, emission-free, and virtually silent cruises through harbours, bays, inland waters, and lakes. The initial plan is to release an exclusive first edition of 25 units, available for pre-order online. All yachts will be crafted at the Frauscher Shipyard in Ohlsdorf, Austria, with Frauscher handling all sales logistics and after-sales management.
