Rossinavi, the Italian shipyard renowned for its bespoke 50-metre superyachts, has embarked on a bold new journey with the launch of Seawolf X. This 42.8-meter catamaran represents the brand’s first foray into multihull vessels, marking a significant departure from their monohull designs. Launched at the Pisa shipyard, Seawolf X signals Rossinavi’s commitment to sustainability and innovation, marrying hybrid-electric propulsion with advanced artificial intelligence systems.
A Design That Defies Convention
Seawolf X’s exterior, designed by Fulvio De Simoni Yacht Design, represents a dramatic shift from the traditional catamaran aesthetics. With a low-profile, sleek silhouette reminiscent of a sports car, the vessel challenges preconceived notions of yacht design. The design team integrated solar panels and lightweight solutions, optimising hull efficiency without compromising style or performance.
Luxurious Interior with a Coastal Influence
Inside, the Seawolf X offers a serene escape, with interiors crafted by the New York-based studio Meyer Davis. Inspired by the natural elements of sun, sea, and sand, the design creates a light-filled haven. Known for their work with luxury hotels like Rosewood and Four Seasons, Meyer Davis brings their expertise in crafting unique, high-end spaces to this yacht.
The interior features expansive living areas, including a convivial cockpit, centred around a pool, an extensive sundeck, and a bow area with a hidden pool and convertible home theatre. Accommodation for up to 10 guests is provided in four cabins, each located within the catamaran’s hulls, ensuring privacy and comfort.
Pioneering Hybrid-Electric Technology
At the heart of Seawolf X lies its hybrid-electric propulsion system, a hallmark of Rossinavi’s BluE label. The catamaran operates under three distinct performance scenarios, each tailored to different journey lengths.
- On one-day trips, the vessel can cruise entirely in electric mode.
- On multi-day voyages, it maintains 90% electric operation, and even on transatlantic crossings, Seawolf X achieves 80% electric cruising.
- When moored, the yacht enters hibernation mode, minimising energy consumption and allowing energy transfer back to shore or a private residence.
The advanced battery system can recharge in five hours, storing enough power to supply a villa, underscoring its eco-friendly credentials.
AI-Driven Smart Navigation
Seawolf X is not just about sustainable power. It also provides intelligent cruising. The onboard Rossinavi AI system monitors the vessel’s operations, predicts guest needs, and advises the crew on low-impact behaviours and energy-efficient practices. This AI system also oversees battery management, ensuring optimal performance by keeping the charge between 20% and 80%, prolonging battery life and enhancing sustainability.
Rossinavi’s Vision for the Future
Federico Rossi, COO of Rossinavi, expressed pride in the Seawolf X, noting that it represents a significant technological leap for the company:
"This yacht showcases remarkable technological innovations in both power management and propulsion technologies, marking the beginning of a new chapter in next-generation vessels".
Without a doubt, Seawolf X is a testament to Rossinavi’s dedication to pushing the boundaries of yacht design and sustainability. As the first hybrid-electric multihull in their fleet, it sets a new standard for the industry, offering a glimpse into the future of luxury yachting.
