Designer description Berret Racoupeau Design
The history of the brand
Berret Racoupeau Design Studio is located in the port city of La Rochelle in western France. It was founded by two yachtsmen, Jean Berret and Olivier Racoupeau in 1994. Initially the company designed racing yachts, which started to win prizes in competitions. The studio thus caught the attention of the shipyards and shipowners, beginning to receive orders for boat design.
Customer relations are important to a brand, so the team's involvement in all stages of the workflow, from the definition of the ship concept to its delivery to the owner, is essential.
At Berret Racoupeau Design, we keep an eye on new developments in the industry, because our mission is to design innovative yachts.
The studio deals with external and internal design of ships and marine architecture. Above all, it is a question of designing sailing yachts of different calibers, but the company's portfolio also includes motor yachts, catamarans, work boats, etc.
Cooperation with the shipyards
Most of the studio's shipbuilding partners are located in France, including Fountaine Pajot, Beneteau, Amel, Garcia and Wauquiez.
In 2001 the studio presented its first major refit of a sailing megayacht built in 1972, making Orejona a modern Magistral that still pleases owners and charter guests. Another striking project was the aluminium yacht Allures 44 for the French shipyard, designed for the Peyron brothers on their expedition to the Far North.
The studio's motor yacht projects are still waiting to be realized - perhaps one of the most notable is Heu Ship, a 53 m long luxury motor catamaran.
