History of the Company

Dok en Scheepsbouw Woudsend is a small Dutch shipyard specialising in the construction of trawler yachts, highly autonomous boats and unlimited sailing areas. Her history began in the mid 70's when the first 12-meter Doggersbank designed by the company was seen. Vripack. Over the years and the experience gained, the shipyard has increased the size of its yachts and the series of Doggersbank yachts built in collaboration with the now famous Vripack design office has helped the shipyard to make a name for itself in the industry.

Status

The shipyard is an existing shipyard serving a wide range of yachts of all sizes and offers a wide range of construction and repair work, but in order to optimize the use of existing facilities and manpower, the management has decided to temporarily abandon the construction of new yachts.

Production

The Frislandia shipyard has five unique covered, heated dry docks, which enable it to handle vessels up to 37 m long and 2.25 m draught.

Customers here expect an individual approach, close attention to every detail and years of experience of professionals - that is the Dutch shipbuilding skills.

The company's expedition vessels are manufactured with steel hull and aluminum superstructure. In spite of rather severe appearance, interiors testify that this is not only a reliable vessel with excellent seaworthiness, but also a luxurious yacht with excellent finishing and high level of comfort. The shipyard has all the necessary facilities for this: production facilities, a team of professionals and years of experience. The most recent of these time-consuming tasks was the Dona Luca 32m motor yacht (built by G. De Vries Lentsch back in 1967).

Model range

The company has built a number of famous custom trawler yachts. One of the latest was the launch of the 84' Beothuk 25.5m, a classic yacht of this type. She is the 102nd yacht in the successful Doggersbank series. For 2019, the shipyard has concentrated its efforts on the construction and maintenance of commercial and government boats.

Features

The shipyard implements not only its projects, but also builds vessels ordered by other Dutch companies. For example, for Windcat Workboats, the shipyard has built special vessels Windcat 41 to transport maintenance personnel for wind power plants located in the seas of Northern Europe. The contracts included production and refitting of a total of 17 such vessels.

It is said that the company produces the most beautiful machine rooms in the world - this may be an exaggeration, but their functionality and perfection are impressive.
