History of AB Yachts

AB Yachts, founded in 1992, has solidified its reputation as a trailblazer in the world of high-speed yachts. That is to say, focusing on crafting vessels with water-jet engines, AB Yachts seamlessly blends speed, excitement, hospitality and top-tier craftsmanship.

In a pivotal moment in 2001, AB Yachts joined forces with the Fipa Group, an event that proved mutually advantageous. This strategic partnership saw the addition of Maiora and Intermare shipyards to the group, cementing Fipa's status as a formidable player in the global yacht market. Subsequently, the CBI Navi, renowned for its expertise in metal hull construction, became part of this expanding family.

AB Yachts has consistently stood out among its peers due to its pioneering spirit and unconventional solutions. Notably, it was the first company worldwide to equip smaller yachts with potent waterjet engines. Their dedication to innovation continued with the development of lightweight composite hulls featuring a groundbreaking bolt-less connection system, which effectively countered vibrations and temperature fluctuations at connection points.

The integration of computer modelling and aerospace-inspired developments further enhanced the structural elements' durability, solidifying AB Yachts' position as a global leader in pleasure craft with water-jet propulsion systems.

Current status

Since 2021, AB Yachts, as well as Maiora and CBI Navi, has formed part of NEXT Yacht Group and offers the sportiest yachts on the market, which also comply with the new Co2 regulations.

Production of AB Yachts

AB Yachts is always at the cutting «edge of» technology and materials. To lighten the structures without losing strength, the company uses the latest composite materials such as carbon fibre, Kevlar, ultramodern composites and rubber. The production facilities located in Massa, on the Ligurian coast, produce the entire range of models of the brand. Every year about 30 boats, designed and manufactured with a high degree of customer involvement, leave the shipyard.

AB Yachts model range

Currently, the range consists of four stylish yacht models. The core products of the shipyard today are high-speed superyachts 24-36 metres long, equipped with a sports bridge. Water-jet engines run in conjunction with standard motor units, which provide excellent speed performance and a wide range of use. The maximum speed in the current range is an impressive 60 knots.

Features

Indeed, the company has devoted all its attention to the idea of fast, robust and at the same time manoeuvrable and lightweight yachts that fit in the current air pollution regulations. As a result, these yachts are often called «reactive». The idea of the company's engineers to equip boats with water-jet engines has shown its worth and even served as «the engine of the yard's» permanent progress.
