Company history

The Austal private shipyard was born in Perth, Australia. It was founded by David Singleton on 8 August 1988.

Ten years later, in December 1998, the company listed on the Australian Stock Exchange. Austal systematically strengthened its position in the world market: Singleton bought up leading shipbuilding and IT companies. In 2018 Austal is a global shipbuilding corporation and general contractor specialising in the design, construction and support of defence and commercial vessels.

The shipyard has designed and built more than 260 ships for the defense and merchant navy. Austal cooperates with Australian border troops; major ferry operators Condor Ferries (Australia) and Mols Linien (Denmark); Australian Navy; Royal Navy of Oman and U.S. Navy.

Production .

Austal has three main shipyards. Defense ships are designed, built and maintained in Henderson (Western Australia) and Mobile (Alabama, USA), commercial and tourist ships - in Balambane (Philippines). Additional ship support services are available in Darwin and Cairns, Australia.San Diego (California, USA) and Muscat (Sultanate of Oman). Austal maintains a strict environmental management system.

Austal manufactures coastal warships (LCS), defense ships, high-speed expeditionary vessels (EPF), passenger and car ferries, service and support dry cargo ships (HSSV), patrol boats, offshore wind farms and luxury megayachts.
