2009 Cabo Yachts 52 Flybridge

Seller's Description

Welcome aboard the 2009 52 Cabo Flybridge Convertible "Trashy Thoughts". She is quite simply the most rare, most desirable and finest Cabo ever constructed. The Michael Peters hull design of the 52 is widely renown as one of the best riding 52’ production hulls ever built.Of the approximate 20 52 Cabo hulls built, there were only two convertibles. Of those two, the 09 now known as “Trashy Thoughts” is the only one built with big C 32 CAT power, a full tower and rigged for fishing. She is an absolute beast capable of easily cruising in the 32-knot range with wide open speeds in the 40-knot range depending on load and conditions.Under current ownership TT has been reborn better than ever! From 2021 to 2025 she has been refit top to bottom. She has had a full paint job, SEA KEEPER 10 GYRO STABILIZER, all new teak deck and covering boards, electronics, cushions, and an interior refit. The comprehensive list goes on and on and is included in her full description. MAY 2026 yard period complete including BRAND NEW GENERATOR, bottom paint, prop speed, and full detail. In addition to being visually stunning and a monster sea boat, “Trashy Thoughts” is a proven fish raiser and tournament champion. She has won the WORLD SAIFFISH CUP under previous ownership plus numerous win/place/show finishes in big game events up and down the eastern seaboard. Her interior layout, thanks to a 17'9" beam, offers a best-in-class layout and more on-board storage than any other 52-foot vessel I have ever seen. The manageable size and unprecedented volume of TT translates to a versatile, owner operable family fishing vessel. This is not your average 52-foot sportfish. She has a cult like following, worshiped in Cabo circles and affectionately referred to as The Unicorn! She must be seen to be appreciated.Below please find a list of her highlights, custom upgrades and refit items… Vessel HighlightsCabo ultra-premium brand, best in class construction and engineeringIncredible Michael Peters hull designUpgraded C 32 CATS, 2200hrs since top end overhaul, 1000-hour service performed 24/25MAY 2026 YARD PERIOD complete BRAND NEW GENRATOR, bottom paint, propspeed and full detail Brand new Generator 2026SEA KEEPER 10 Gyro StabilizerYacht Controller wireless docking systemBow thrusterFull towerMezzanine seatingNEW teak decks, mezz and covering boards installedFull rub rail up paint job 2022/23Hull paint, Ethereal Blue 2019Custom painted FAUX teak transomUpdated AC compressors throughoutELECTRO SEA AC descaling systemIce chipperWater makerTeak flybridge soleAir conditioned flybridgeHydraulic outriggersUnderwater lightsSpectacular 3 st rm 2 head layoutFull interior refitUpdated Dometic heads throughoutStanding rod lockerWasher dryerUnprecedented storageSalon drink ice makerElectric reel outletsHuge transom livewell

Vessel Walkthrough

Standing in the massive cockpit of the 2009 52 Cabo Trashy Thoughts you really feel the 17’9” beam. Her cockpit is rigged to battle the largest pelagics the ocean has to offer. She has twin large macerated fish boxes and a huge transom livewell. Her Pompanette rocket launcher was recently refinished and serves as the centerpiece of the cockpit. Tackle storage, electric reel outlets, eskimo ice chipper, Furuno display…..TT has everything you need and is tournament tested!

She does have a softer side, and her beauty certainly matches her braun. All her teak was custom done brand new last year. The mezzanine seating is factory with brand new double stitched custom exterior cushions. She has a custom sunshade so when dockside, or at anchor her creature comforts can also be enjoyed. There is a flybridge ladder to starboard as well as an auto door that opens to the salon.

Her interior is simple but elegant. All interior wood is the original solid satin finished teak which nicely preserves her CABO DNA. No thin veneers or milky wood here….just quality. The same can be said for her teak and holly original flooring, which was a factory option.

All other furnishings, lighting and décor items were all redone custom in an extensive interior refit. White designer stone countertops, white ultra leather sofa and dinette seating help to give TT a more modern feel than her original décor. The main salon, forward galley and starboard dinette all tie in together and share the benefits. Custom refit items include…

Salon:

  • New valances

  • New carpet

  • New upholstery

  • New soft goods

  • New custom covers for coffee table and dinette

  • New AC evaporators and condensing units

  • New overhead LED lighting

Galley:

The layout down below on the 2009 52 Cabo Trashy Thoughts is best in class. Her wide beam translates to interior volume throughout allowing for a 3 stateroom, 2 head arrangement that is quite unique.

Her master stateroom is to port and features a large island king berth complete with en suite head.

Her starboard guest stateroom is special because unlike most vessels her size, this is not a tiny bunkbed room. In fact, her large double bed runs athwartships and is suitable for a couple. Her original design had an additional raised berth above the outboard storage cabinets. This berth was redesigned custom as a huge tackle storage locker. There is so much storage aboard TT that if desired, the additional sleeping berth is easily converted back. Also housed in this room are the washer and dryer neatly concealed in teak cabinets against the forward bulkhead. This room also lends itself well as a crew stateroom if needed.

Out in the lower companionway, Trashy Thoughts boasts an absolutely spectacular custom rod and reel storage locker. Gear is on display like artwork and lit with multi-color LED accent lighting.

Continuing forward, the VIP stateroom features an island queen berth where most vessels her size have split bunks not conducive to accommodating another couple. The guest head on TT is accessible privately through the VIP or as a “day head” from the companionway.

In keeping with the upper deck décor and ship systems, the lower accommodations were all upgraded and refit as well. Below please find a summary…
