The Nordhavn N51 is a long-range, ocean-going motor yacht with classic Nordhavn lines and a focus on comfort, safety, and efficiency. It offers all the hallmarks of the Nordhavn brand, including a robust build and thoughtful design for serious passage-making. With a spacious interior and exterior, it’s designed for couples or small families who seek global cruising capability.
Exterior Design
The N51 retains the classic Nordhavn look with a high-volume hull and deck, providing both seaworthiness and comfortable living spaces. It includes practical features like a carbon fiber pasarelle (boarding plank) for easy Mediterranean mooring and high-quality stainless steel fittings throughout the boat. The cockpit is spacious and covered, offering ample room for outdoor dining, with integrated lighting and sound systems for an elevated experience.
Swim Platform and Lazarette
At the stern, the swim platform is generously sized and includes a hot/cold shower. The lazarette is accessible from the cockpit and houses key equipment like the inverter, air conditioning system, and autopilot hydraulics. The steering system also includes a manual backup, allowing for full control in the unlikely event of a hydraulic failure.
Interior Layout
The interior is designed for long-term comfort, with high-quality materials and finishes. The rear cockpit connects seamlessly to the saloon, which features a galley aft layout, maximizing social space. The saloon includes seating that can be adjusted for meals or relaxation. Below deck, there are two spacious cabins with plenty of storage. Each cabin is designed to be luxurious and functional, perfect for long passages or extended stays aboard.
Flybridge and Boat Deck
The flybridge offers a commanding view and includes a well-equipped helm station with Garmin navigation systems, bow thruster controls, and a full suite of instruments. The flybridge seating is spacious enough for six to eight people, and there's a table for outdoor dining. The boat deck also houses the tender, launched using the Steelhead Marine davit, which operates quietly and efficiently.
Performance and Engine Room
Powered by twin engines, the N51 is designed for long-range cruising with significant fuel capacity (approximately 5,700 liters of diesel) and a cruising speed that can handle global passages. The engine room is well-laid-out with easy access to critical systems, ensuring ease of maintenance and reliability. The batteries, fire suppression system, and generator are all located within the lazarette, and the ship's systems are set up for long-range cruising.
